Tubal Ligation Reversal

Lakeshore Surgical Center is one of Georgia’s premier outpatient clinics for tubal ligation reversals. Our medical director, Dr. William Greene, Jr., M.D., has over 35 years of tubal surgery experience and has performed thousands of tubal reversals. He is also one of the first surgeons anywhere to perform a major pelvic surgery through a mini-laparotomy incision. Our clinic uses the latest advances in microsurgery technology and employs a highly-trained staff that is dedicated to providing our patients with the greatest level of care.

About Tubal Reversals

A tubal reversal is the most cost-effective treatment that offers women the chance to become pregnant after having a tubal ligation. Many women who have had a tubal ligation either believe or have been told that In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is their only chance at pregnancy after having tubal ligation surgery. This is not true.

We have helped thousands of women become pregnant by reversing their tubal ligations at a fraction of the cost of an In Vitro treatment. The health risks associated with tubal reversals are also much less than those of IVF.

Before Your Procedure

The day before your procedure, you will come to the clinic to meet our doctors and staff as well as take care of any necessary lab and paperwork. You will have the chance to ask our team questions and tour our facility.

After a restful night’s sleep, you’ll come back to the clinic and meet with our anesthesia team to talk about any concerns you might have. We only use general anesthesia at our clinic to provide optimum patient comfort.

The Tubal Reversal Process

To minimize post-op discomfort and improve recovery time, we perform tubal reversals by first making a 4-inch incision above the pubic hairline. Mechanical retractors are then used to gently hold the skin apart. If you are having a mini-laparotomy, retractors will not need to be used. Using retractors allows us to gently move the skin over the tube being worked on rather than opening a wide incision that exposes both tubes at once.

The second part of the tubal reversal involves rejoining the separated ends of the fallopian tubes. Once we’ve found the obstructed portion of the tube, we will release it from adhesion, trim away any scar tissue that has formed, and rejoin the tube using tiny sutures. We take incredible care to make sure tissue is not harmed during the procedure in order to minimize post-op pain and increase the likelihood of a successful pregnancy.

After surgery, you should be fine to travel the very next day and feel well enough to work within the next 3-4 days, unless your work involves heavy physical labor. After you leave the clinic, we will periodically call you to check on your recovery status. Serious problems are very rare. We have never had to perform a blood transfusion nor have we had to admit someone to a nearby hospital due to complications.

Chances of Getting Pregnant After a Tubal Reversal

You’re chances of getting pregnant after the procedure are determined by many factors. Primary factors include your age, your fertility level prior to getting your tubes ligated, and the type of ligation you had. To see the rates of success among our patients, please view our pregnancy statistics page.

At Lakeshore Surgical Center, we do everything possible to give you the chance of having a healthy and happy pregnancy. For more information, check out our FAQ page or give us a call at 877-588-5594.

Thanks again for everything you have done for us. We conceived only 2 months after having the reversal surgery. The staff was absolutely amazing and I would 100% recommend Lakeshore to anyone looking to have a reversal done. Here is a picture of our beautiful baby boy.

I was 40 when I finally had my reversal. And 43 when I had my baby. Everyone thought I was crazy but I knew that me and my husband deserved to have a child together. It took almost 2 yrs to the day to get pregnant. But we were blessed with this beautiful baby girl…

After having 3 wonderful boys I had my tubes tied in 2015. Shortly after that I met and married my husband. We discussed having a baby of our own for several years and finally in June 2023 we were ready to take the step to add on to our family. We were blessed April 2024 with a beautiful baby girl.
